Jean Dunne on BOH in church procession
Q: So what do you remember of the Band of Hope playing a part in the guild, Was there a lot about the Band of Hope in that guild?
A: Well it was a church procession you see and we, with being at Fleetwood, they wanted other people to come, so, I think that's how it was. Our minister at the time, Mr. Killcross (?), he put our name forward and of course we got a place. I'll never forget he saw us coming along and he was waving and waving and I remember it being a beautiful day.
Jean on fun at the BOH
We had a lot of fun, like I say, we hadn't time to be in mischief, you know, and when we was at the youth club, of course, the boys were there as well so that was an added incentive (laughs) when you get old enough to go. But even then, you know, we had records to play and we did snooker or billiards, or whatever, and we'd have dancing and all sorts of different things. They were good days for us really, we weren't well off my any means, like I say, me Dad was working class and me Mum didn't go to work, she stayed at home and looked after us. So they were good days really.
